The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
