The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
