He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
