And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
