Thamud denied the messengers 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 among gardens and fountains, 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 hewing out houses in the mountains and taking pride in your skill? 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. She will have her share of water as you have your share, each on a certain day. 155 And touch her not with ill, lest there take hold of you the torment of a Mighty Day. 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 159

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
