The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem. 1 The Byzantians have been overcome. 2 in the nearer part of the land; and, after their vanquishing, they shall be the victors 3 Within ten years - Allah's is the command in the former case and in the latter - and in that day believers will rejoice 4 at the victory granted by Allah. He grants victory to whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 5 It is a promise of Allah. Allah faileth not His promise, but most of mankind know not. 6 They know the outward of this world's life, but of the hereafter they are absolutely heedless. 7 Have they never thought to themselves that Allah did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between except with truth, and for a stated term? Yet most people disbelieve that they will ever meet their Lord. 8 Have they not journeyed in the land and observed what wise hath been the end of those before them? They were stronger than they in power and they broke up the earth and they inhabited it with greater affluence than these have inhabited it, and their apostles came unto them with evidences. And Allah was not one to wrong them, but themselves they were wont to wrong. 9 Therefore evil was the end of those who did evil, for they denied the signs of God and made fun of them. 10
