AND [thus it is:] We have not created heaven and earth and all that is between them without meaning and purpose, as is the surmise of those who are bent on denying the truth: but then, woe from the fire [of hell] unto all who are bent on denying the truth! 27 Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked? 28 A Book We have sent down to thee, Blessed, that men possessed of minds may ponder its signs and so remember. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 When his dressage steeds were presented to him in the evening, 31 he said: 'Indeed I have loved the love of good things better than the remembrance of my Lord until the sun has vanished behind a veil. 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And certainly We tried Sulaiman, and We put on his throne a (mere) body, so he turned (to Allah). 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 We said: "This is Our gift, so give or withhold as you wish without reckoning." 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
