Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When, then, the sight shall be confounded. 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)], then follow you its (the Quran's) recital. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 No indeed; but you love the hasty world, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. 30
