The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
