Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
