And when We commanded the angels, “Prostrate before Adam” – so they all prostrated, except Iblis; he refused. 116 So We said: O Adam! This is an enemy to you and to your wife; therefore let him not drive you both forth from the garden so that you should be unhappy; 117 It has been given to you so that you shall neither become hungry nor naked therein; 118 And you (will) suffer not from thirst therein nor from the sun's heat. 119 But then Satan tempted him by saying: "O Adam, should I show you the tree of immortality, and a kingdom that will never know any wane?" 120 So the two of them ate of it, and their shameful parts revealed to them, and they took to stitching upon themselves leaves of the Garden. And Adam disobeyed his Lord, and so he erred. 121 Thereafter his Lord exalted him, accepted his repentance, and bestowed guidance upon him, 122 'Both of you, together, go down out of it (the Garden) each of you an enemy to the other' He said: 'but, if My Guidance comes to you, whosoever follows My Guidance shall neither go astray nor be unprosperous; 123 But he who turneth away from remembrance of Me, his will be a narrow life, and I shall bring him blind to the assembly on the Day of Resurrection. 124 He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)." 125 God will say, "Just as Our signs came to you and you ignored them, so will you on this Day be ignored." 126 Thus We recompense those who are unjust and have no faith in Our revelations. The torment in the life to come will be more severe and last longer. 127 Do they not learn a lesson from Our destruction of many generations before them in whose dwelling-places they walk about? Surely in this are signs for men of understanding. 128
