Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 That He hath promised a Second Creation (Raising of the Dead); 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 that it was He that destroyed ancient Aad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
