The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
