Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A multitude from the ancients. 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 And shall fill therewith your bellies. 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Lapping it up like female camels raging of thirst with disease." 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
