The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
