The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 on a fateful Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what can make you know what is sijjeen? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches face to face. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
