Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 We destroyed the strongest among them in power. The stories of the ancient people have already been mentioned. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 and who sent down out of heaven water in measure; and We revived thereby a land that was dead; even so you shall be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
