The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
