The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
