The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Romans have been defeated in a nearby land and after this defeat, 2 In the nearby land, and after their defeat they will soon be victorious. 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 In Allah's help to victory. He helpeth to victory whom He will. He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter. 7 Do they not think for themselves that God did not create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them without reason and a determined purpose? But many men reject the meeting with their Lord. 8 What, have they never journeyed in the land and seen what was the end of those before them? They were stronger in might than themselves, and they plowed the land and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it. And to them, their Messengers came with clear signs, and Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. 9 Then the end of those who did evil was the worst [consequence] because they denied the signs of Allah and used to ridicule them. 10
