The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
