The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 Who would expel you from your land. Now what do ye advise? 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and put to shame, 119 threw themselves down in prostration 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Said Firaun, “You have accepted faith in Him before I gave you permission! This is indeed a grand conspiracy you have plotted in the city, in order to expel its people from it; so now you will come to know!” 123 I shall assuredly cut off alternately your hands and feet, then I shall crucify you all together.' 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
