O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 But leave them in their confused ignorance for a time. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 and believe in His messages 58 and do not ascribe partners to Him; 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a Book with Us which speaks the truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 (We shall say): 'Do not groan today, surely you shall receive no help from Us' 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Or they say, “He is afflicted by a demon”; in fact he brought the Truth to them, and most of them dislike the Truth. 70 But if the truth were in accord with their own likes and dislikes, the heavens and the earth would surely have fallen into ruin, and all that lives in them [would long ago have perished]! Nay, [in this divine writ] We have conveyed unto them all that they ought to bear in mind: and from this their reminder they [heedlessly] turn away! 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 You are surely calling them to the right path. 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 Until when We open upon them a door of severe chastisement, lo! they are in despair at it. 77
