The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
