He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
