Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
