The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
