The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. 1 an unerringly Straight Book, meant to warn of a stern punishment from Allah, and to proclaim, to those who believe and work righteous deeds, the tiding that theirs shall be a good reward 2 Wherein they shall remain for ever: 3 And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son." 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have made whatever exists on the earth its adornment to test and try them (and) know who acts better; 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 Behold, the youths betook themselves to the Cave: they said, "Our Lord! bestow on us Mercy from Thyself, and dispose of our affair for us in the right way!" 10 Then We smote their ears many years in the Cave. 11 Then We roused them to find out which of the party had the correct account of the duration of their sleep in the cave. 12
