Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
