۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In the Gardens of delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
