Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
