And the Thamud belied the warnings. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 One early morning Our torment brought upon them utter destruction. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
