Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
