The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
