He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he feareth 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
