The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
