The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard, 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He said: Throw! And when they threw they cast a spell upon the people's eyes, and overawed them, and produced a mighty spell. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ So the truth was proved and their works were disproved. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They said: verily unto our Lord we are turning. 125 “And what did you dislike in us, except that we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Pour (bestow abundantly) patience on us, and bestow us death as Muslims.” 126
