And [every time] the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth and gave the lie to the announcement of a life to come - [simply] because We had granted them ease and plenty in [their] worldly life, and they had become corrupted by it [every time] they would say: "This [man] is nothing hut a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat, and drinking of what you drink: 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 He answered: "A short while, and they shall be repenting." 40 Then a mighty blast quite justly overtook them, and We reduced them to a rubble. So away with the wrong-doing folk! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a manifest authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves when their people are slaves to us?" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
