And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
