The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
