Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
