When thou wentest forth at dawn from thy people to lodge the believers in their pitches for the battle -- God is All-hearing, All-knowing -- 121 when two groups from among you were about to lose heart, although God was near unto them and it is in God that the believers must place their trust: 122 For God had helped you during the Battle of Badr at a time when you were helpless. So act in compliance with the laws of God; you may well be grateful. 123 (Remember) when you (Muhammad SAW) said to the believers, "Is it not enough for you that your Lord (Allah) should help you with three thousand angels; sent down?" 124 Nay, but if you are patient in adversity and conscious of Him, and the enemy should fall upon you of a sudden, your Sustainer will aid you with five thousand angels swooping down!" 125 And Allah did not bestow this victory except for your happiness, and only that your hearts may attain peace with it; and there is no help except from Allah, the Almighty, the Wise. 126 and that He might cut off a part of the unbelievers or frustrate them, so that they turned in their tracks, disappointed. 127 (O Messenger!) It is not for you to decide whether He will accept their repentance or chastise them, for they surely are wrongdoers. 128 To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He will and punishes whom He will. Allah is Forgiving, the Most Merciful. 129
