And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 My heart is constrained, my tongue falters, so delegate Aaron; 13 And they have a crime against me, so I fear that they shall slay me. 14 He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. 15 “Therefore approach Firaun then proclaim, ‘We both are Noble Messengers of the Lord Of The Creation.’ 16 that you let the Children of Israel go with us.'" 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 But the favour you oblige me with is that you have enslaved the children of Israel." 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 'Do you not hear' said he (Pharaoh) to those around him. 25 [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 (Moses) said: "The Lord of the East and the Lord of the West and all that lies between them, if you have sense." 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
