The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
