He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 So you are after him! 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
