The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
