The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
