Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it unto you an admonition, and that it might be retained by the retaining ears. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 on that Day, the Event occurs. 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me: 25 And not known my account! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
