He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
