The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Let them eat and enjoy; and let their hopes deceive them, soon they shall know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No community precedeth the term thereof nor doth it fall behind. 5 They say: "O you to whom the Admonition has been revealed, you are surely crazed. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We send not the angels down except for just cause: if they came (to the ungodly), behold! no respite would they have! 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 But no Messenger came to them except he was mocked. 11 Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. 12 They would not believe in it (the Quran), and already the example of (Allah's punishment of) the ancients (who disbelieved) has gone forth. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
